The AprilAire® ZAZW Water Sensor is a compact, easy-to-install sensor designed for basements, crawl spaces, and other hard-to-reach areas where water damage often begins. Pair it with an AprilAire® Wi-Fi Dehumidifier or S86WMUPR Thermostat to receive instant alerts straight to your phone through the AprilAire® Healthy Air App.

With flexible mounting options and a slim profile, this sensor can be placed horizontally for surface leak detection or vertically with the included bracket for tight spaces. Its 6-foot lead wires allow you to reach difficult areas like under appliances or near sump pumps.

What Is This For?

This sensor is designed to detect water before it becomes a major problem. It’s ideal for protecting areas of the home where leaks are most likely to start, such as:

• Crawlspace entries and foundation walls

• Sump pumps and condensate pumps

• Water heaters and appliances (washers, dishwashers, refrigerators)

• Drainage lines, hose connections, sinks, and toilets

• Areas prone to sewage backups or leaks

By pairing with the AprilAire Healthy Air App, homeowners get instant water alerts, low-battery notifications, and historical data to stay ahead of potential damage.

Requirements

• Wi-Fi Enabled AprilAire Device: Must be paired with either an AprilAire S86WMUPR Thermostat or an AprilAire Wi-Fi Dehumidifier for monitoring and alerts.

• App: Requires the AprilAire Healthy Air App (iOS or Android).

• Power: CR2 lithium battery (included, up to 3.5-year life).

• Wireless Range: Up to 100 ft from paired device (Zigbee 2.4 GHz).

If you own a non-Wi-Fi Aprilaire model (E070, E080CS, E100, E100V, or E130), the sensor will not connect directly. To enable app alerts, you’ll need to pair it with an Aprilaire S86WMUPR Wi-Fi Thermostat, which acts as the hub for the sensor.

Best Practices for Use:

• Place a sensor near the dehumidifier’s condensate pump or drain line to detect leaks early.

• Position additional sensors in high-risk crawl space areas: near sump pumps, water heaters, foundation walls, or under plumbing lines.

• For large crawl spaces, use multiple sensors (up to 9 per Wi-Fi device) to cover different zones.

This setup ensures you’re alerted at the very first sign of water, keeping both your crawl space and your dehumidifier protected.
